The Stats ...
During its 2006-07 fiscal
year, the IBB shipped
1,626,297 books, valued
at $53,667,801, to needy
children and students on
four continents. The
average value per book
was US$ 33.
More than 5 million books
have been shipped in the
last three years. The major
book donors are publishers
from the U.S. and Canada.
Our 43,000-square-foot
warehouse in southwest
Baltimore City can
receive large shipments
on short notice. At any
given time, we have 1+
million books in inventory.
Books are shipped in 20-
or 40-foot sea containers
that hold approximately
25,000-40,000+ pounds of
books. U.S. tax law
requires that the donated
books go to children, the
needy, or the ill, in
developing countries.
